Kink Archives Northwest

Who We Are

Kink Archives Northwest was conceived of in late 2025 out of a deep love for our interconnected communities here in the Pacific Northwest and a desire to preserve and celebrate our rich histories.

We have two primary areas of development for this archive. First, we are collecting and preserving materials related to any Kink, Leather, Fetish, and BDSM activities that have happened in the Pacific Northwest (currently defined as Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia). These materials will be physically stored, logged into our searchable catalog, and digital backups of the materials will be created. The physical archives will be accessible upon request by academics, researchers, and educators. We also hope to develop exhibits to showcase our local history within our communities themselves.

Our second area of focus is that of collecting oral histories from long-term community members. Since many of us consider this part of our lives to be private, we often don't have the same records of history as other groups. Our stories live in our memories, and we at KAN see these histories as unique and valuable additions to our historical record. We will have a trained group of volunteers to conduct these conversational interviews, which will also be transcribed for accessibility and research.

Please bear with us as we build our catalog and this website. Stay tuned for volunteer and donation opportunities. In the meantime, you can use our searchable catalog and selection of digital resources to see what we have available online.

Please join our mailing list to make sure you don't miss anything. We truly can't wait to build this archive with you!

News and Announcements

Pacific Northwest Kinksters - Welcome to your Archive!

We are so excited to officially launch Kink Archives Northwest, a repository for the history of our regional kink, fetish, leather, and BDSM communities. Our histories are particularly vulnerable to being lost, as our materials are discarded by family members and memories lost to time.

Our board has accomplished quite a bit already - we achieved 501(c)3 tax-exempt status in early March of this year, meaning that the support our donors provide is tax deductible and that we’ll be able to access a wider range of grants to support our operations. If you have materials from people or events, past or current, that you would like to donate, please contact us!

Most recently, we’ve been focused on setting up our (tiny) office space and getting this website up and running. Thanks to Paul at Appaloosa, we now have a robust catalog system integrated with the site. If you have extra time and a data entry fetish, we would love to have you as a volunteer!

Our next steps are to develop a comprehensive privacy policy and find a venue for our first swap meet. Stay tuned!

We look forward to hearing your stories and building even more community together.

Thank you from all of us on the Kink Archives Northwest 2026 board.
